Description
This tour is designed for all those who love panoramic views and learn curiosities and hidden stories about the popes, the emperors and how the city changed through the centuries visiting the most iconic monuments of the city.
Our tour starts from Castel Sant’Angelo, the castle that protected the popes several times trough history and that preserves incredible frescoes and decorations of their private apartments.
The castle has an incredible, interesting story that dates back to the II cent. AD, when it was built to be the tomb of Emperor Hadrian. Through the centuries it was transformed in a castle with the apartments of the popes, the prisons, and the treasury of the Papal State.
From the terrace on top of the castle you’ll enjoy an incredible view over the Eternal City, with all its domes and monuments, and over the Tiber River.
After visiting the castle, we’ll take a walk through the medieval streets of the city center to reach the most incredible monument built by Emperor Hadrian to be the temple where the Romans were worshipping the main pagan gods.
The Pantheon today is a church but it is also the only standing original temple of ancient times, the most copied monument in the world that has the first unreinforced dome ever built in concrete.
When in Rome you can’t miss this place.
